Whose life are you living? Whose path are you really on? And, are you following your BLISS?
Most of us are stuck on a path that we once thought was the right one. But it was likely based on external expectations, social conditioning and implanted stories and values that, in most cases, are not true to who we really are. Living a life that doesn’t feel authentic can lead to disappointment and frustration, leaving you empty and void of a sense of meaning, purpose and fulfillment.
So, how do we find our BLISS (and what is bliss anyway?) and how do we discover our authentic path?
The answer lies in the Hero’s Journey (à la philosopher Joseph Campbell), which encourages us to go to the places that challenge and sometimes scare us the most—the cave we fear to enter holds the treasure we seek. We must embark on these journeys time and time again, each time returning with new understandings and insights into who we truly are. The most important part of these journeys is to understand the lessons and transform them into stories. Then to condense them into three words—our core values—and then adapt those words into a personal philosophy.
Knowing your values and personal philosophy will help you:
Manifest your Hero’s Journey
Find your BLISS
Discover your authentic path
Define your values
Know your guiding principles
Make decisions
Proactively set healthy boundaries (rather than defensively and reactively)
Know what your needs are and how do you ask for them to be met
Prioritize the limited time you have each day
Find out what’s most important to you in your life
Know what you are most passionate about
“LOVE is what we’re born with. FEAR is what we learn.”
